Anguilla's Salt Ponds form part of the fine fabric that composes Anguilla's Environment.  Some of the many ponds on Anguilla are shown below. Each possesses a unique character that may be admired from a distance or close up. They are only a portion of the ponds located on the island and can be excellent areas for bird watching.

Salt mining was once a major industry in Anguilla. 
This pond at Sandy Ground (The Road Salt Pond) played and major role in Anguilla's development. You can learn more about this and the historical surrounding area via prearranged tours with former Chief Minister, Sir Emile Gumbs. 

This a very small pond which from the beach is out of view but yet only a short distance away at Junks hole. It is visible on the road to Captain's Bay

This pond is located at the cove. For many years the road to Maundays bay ran along the Sandy area between this pond and the beach. On this day several Pelicans were roaming between the beach and the pond located on the world renowned Meads Bay
On the way to Cap Juluca a stopped to admire the suds along it's shore line. In the backdrop are a new set of private villas being built that have a purely spectacular view.

The now infamous pond above is located between the Village of Pond Ground and the eastern coastline. It's is now  and probably for a very long time to come, associated with young Jamida Webster.

The Pond Site pond in East End, was partially filled by the R. Webster Government in the 80's. It and the homes built in the same valley are susceptible to flooding. In 1999 an apparent surge from hurricane Lenny dumped several feet of water in this entire area, and created an emergency evacuation scenario. Homes were left covered to the roof for days.
