EC$100,000 IN CASH AND EC$100,000 IN SERVICES

(Castries, St. Lucia) - LIME, the Caribbean’s only full-service telecoms provider, has come to the aid of the St Jude Hospital in St Lucia, which was partially destroyed by fire and rendered unusable some weeks ago.

On Wednesday, October 28, LIME Country Manager, Sean Auguste presented a cheque for EC$100,000 E.C. to acting CEO of St Jude, Andrewna Henry, and chairman of the hospital’s board, Mr. Percival McDonald, as LIME’s contribution toward the St Jude Rehabilitation Fund.

In addition to the cash donation, LIME will also be providing the hospital with communications support valued at a further EC$100,000 when the facility has been rebuilt. Further, LIME has established two dedicated mobile short codes to make it easy and convenient for members of the public to make their contributions via texting.

The hospital was badly damaged by fire which destroyed the surgical unit, laundry, pediatric unit and laboratory on 9 September.

In handing over LIME’s contribution, Mr. Auguste commended the St Jude management and staff for working round the clock to provide the patients with proper accommodation, medical care and treatment following their relocation to the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School Campus B and the National Stadium after the fire.

He also praised the many businesses and individuals who, to date, have come forward to contribute to the Rehabilitation Fund.
