The heroes of the Haitian Revolution (Toussaint L'Overture, Henri Christophe, Jean-Jacques Dessalines and lest we forget Zamba Boukman)sent a strong message and a blow to colonialism. Ever since that time until now they have paid dearly for their strength and courage. I agree with the CRO concept of reparations from France. At the same time the 10,000 or more Haitians who were slaughtered because of their African blood by the mullato Gen. Trujillo (who was of mixed ancestry), deserves a form of reparation. At the same time when Gen. Trujillo slaughtered Haitians, he gave land and a grand welcome to Jewish immigrants fleeing a hostile enviroment in Europe. This story has not been told. Trujillo gave these immigrants a great start by offering them land..and they became the richest people on that island. By contrast Haiti remains isolated from her neighbor, as well as the world. Honorable mention must also be made of the fact that Pres. Wade of Senegal who extended a welcome to Haitians who wished to settle in Senegal. He offered them a village, or a region. Lastly, the international community including Anguilla has reached out to Haitians and showed compassion during their hour of need.
