(Press Release) – The Government of Anguilla and Gridspan Energy have successfully commissioned the first stage of their mobile energy storage pilot project at the Government Headquarters, NBA Building. The project features a 125-kW mobile containerized battery system that can be quickly deployed to numerous locations in order to best accommodate Anguilla’s dynamic energy needs. The Gridspan Energy system is uniquely designed for plug-and-play use, with the ability to connect to a site in less than 15-minutes after transport. Capable of a variety of uses including emergency power supply, solar energy utilization, power quality support, and generation efficiency improvement. The pilot commissioning is an important step in moving Anguilla towards a more sustainable energy future.

Anguilla, is leading the way with this innovative initiative, as the first project of its kind in the Caribbean. This pilot highlights Anguilla’s role as a regional thought leader and early adopter of island-centric energy technologies. Minister Curtis Richardson is pleased with the progress of the project and reinforces the commitment of the Government towards a sustainable energy transition for Anguilla. This pilot acknowledges the need to strengthen the resiliency at critical facilities in light of accelerated climate change and its ensuing effects on weather related hazards such as prolonged drought, storm intensity and sea level rise. The pilot will be used to highlight and evaluate the numerous benefits that mobile energy storage offers; enabling more cost-effective, reliable, resilient and sustainable island energy systems.

Gridspan Energy is pioneering mobile energy storage technology with the goal of advancing clean energy access, affordability, reliability, and resilience in island energy markets through deployment of the world’s most versatile energy storage systems.
