LIME Sponsors ALHCS Interhouse Athletic Competition for 11 Consecutive Year
(The Valley, Anguilla) - The LIME sponsored Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School inter- house athletic meet is close to culmination with the annual event scheduled for Wednesday 31 March 2010. The ‘Heats’ and pre-sports day events which include high and long jump for all classes, bicycle race, tug-of-war, shot put, Javelin and the road race have all being going well with the athletes amassing points for their houses.
LIME, which has sponsored the sports day every year since 1999, is proud to lend its support to the event once again. According to Mr Mark Romney, General Manager at LIME, “the importance of sports in one’s life is evident; the health benefits, the social time, the discipline required to excel; and we want to encourage our young people to incorporate sports in their lives.”
He added “in today’s world it is also possible to further your academic pursuits through sports scholarships. I encourage our talented young athletes to push themselves to reach their personal bests – take example from the Proctor sisters. Those young ladies are going places and it started right here!”
The budget presented to LIME this year, a total of US$3 300, has not increased from last year and includes the cost of medals and trophies for the athletes, rental of the PA system and preparation of the grounds among others costs. LIME commends the administrators at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School for their fiscal prudence in these challenging times and thanks them for the opportunity to support this very worth cause for yet another year.
The ManagemeNt and staff extend best wishes for a safe and successful sports day and would like to encourage everyone to come out and support the athletes and the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive Schools in the 2010 Inter-house Athletics Meet.
