SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: Johnson & Wales University has long been one of the greatest partners of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) and following a meeting between Jeff Greenip, Director of Admissions for the university s North Miami Campus, and CHTAEF Chairman Tom Pas at Caribbean Marketplace 2010, the two have announced the continuation of collaborative efforts to provide scholarships for Caribbean students pursuing bachelor s degrees in the College of Culinary Arts and the Hospitality College.

The scholarship is available to Caribbean Nationals and will be jointly funded by Johnson & Wales University s North Miami Campus and the CHTAEF.  The Charlotte and Rhode Island Johnson & Wales campuses continue their support by each offering one scholarship in their International Tourism Management programs.

Johnson & Wales University has been a tremendous supporter of Caribbean tourism and a major component in the success of our mission to place the future of Caribbean tourism in the hands of young Caribbean nationals who would not have otherwise had these opportunities, said Pas.

In addition to Johnson & Wales many tourism related courses, the university is bringing a new Golf Management course on stream, which is expected to be immensely valuable for Caribbean hospitality students, added Pas.

I commend Johnson & Wales University (a leader in culinary arts education), for offering scholarships to the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Education Fund. I trust that all students from within the region including Anguilla will benefit from their generous offer of scholarships. In addition, I trust that other educational institutions particularly those that operate offshore schools withint the Caribbean region will follow the model of Johnson & Wales University by offering scholarships to residents of those islands whereby they are benefitting from operating costs thare are more effective within the Caribbean region
