A delegation of five persons left Anguilla over the weekend to participate in the World Athletics championships, which will be held in Osaka Japan from the 25August –5 September. The delegation is comprised of Kieron Rogers, (100m), Shara Proctor (long Jump), Rollins Richardson (Congressional Delegate) , Wilma Proctor (coach) and Emris Rogers. The world Championships will feature athletes from all corners of the globe, competing in both track and field events.

Both Rogers and Proctor have been sharpening their skills for this event at the Regional development center in Jamaica and at the University of Florida respectively. Both athletes are very confident and intend on progressing through the rounds and producing new Anguilla records. The young Rogers wants to break the eleven-second barrier and set a new Junior record, while Proctor will try to add some hard ware to add to her NCAA collection. The athletes hope the Anguillan public can follow the events either on television or the Internet at www.iaaf.org .
