Apany's Board of Trustees
Meeting held in Anguilla earlier this
month.
August 23, 2007:
The Board of Trustees of Anguilla Progressive
Association of New York Inc. (APANY) held its monthly
meeting on August 7, 2007 at the Anguilla Tourist Board.
APANY's Board of Trustees is in the process of developing a
strategic plan aimed at systematically increasing corporate
sponsorship; consequently, the purpose of the meeting was to
discuss Anguilla's needs and APANY's role in securing
possible contributions.
Present at the meeting were: Chief Minister Osbourne
Fleming, Chairman of the Tourist Board John Benjamin, CEO of
Cable and Wireless Sutcliffe Hodge, Executive Director of
Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry Calvin Bartlett,
Social Security Office Madlan Richardson, President of the
Anguilla Diabetes Association (ADA) Lynette Rogers, Anguilla
Sailing Association President Peter Parles, Seymour Hodge,
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Paula Middleton-Lalande,
APANY President Carlson Connor-Lloyd, and two other board
members: President of Simply budgeting Sabra Richardson, and
Aubrey Rogers, Esq.

Some of the topics of discussion
were: (1) the importance of APANY developing a system to
attract US tax deductible donations from visitors, (2) APANY
developing website links from the Tourist Board, Chamber of
Commerce and other currently related Anguillian web pages to
facilitate giving efforts,(3) APANY developing a giving
campaign to secure the funds needed for the completion of
the community recreation center in South Hill, (4) APANY
assisting health officials in Anguilla withy the creation of
an educational campaign for the prevention and treatment of
hypertension, diabetes, and kidney diseases, and (5) APANY
developing literature explaining what kind of donations
qualify for APANY processing and the administrative fees
required.
There were also three presentations made:
Laurel Hodge, APANY's Recording Secretary, presented
the
East End Primary School with various school supplies
Carlson Connor-Lloyd presented the Anguilla Diabetes
Association with a number machines and strips, and
Carlson Connor-Lloyd presented the Anguilla Sailing
Association
with a check for ten thousand dollars.
