Omari Banks
top scores in Leewards losing Cause against Jamaica. |
|
October 19, 2008: Jamaica and the Leeward Islands met
in Providence, Guyana at the national stadium for their
opener in the KFC Cup on Wednesday. The Leewards captained
by Nevisian Runako Morton featured Anguilla's Chaka Hodge
and Omari Banks in the playing 11. Morton won the toss and
elected to bat, but his eagerness to take advantage of the
pitch proved futile as the team fell 5.3 overs shy of the 50
allotted, being bowled out for 167. In reply Jamaica,
captained by West Indies opener Christopher Gayle eased to
169-4 in 39.5 overs.
Despite the loss, Anguilla's Omari Banks put in a solid
performance and was awarded Man Of The Match. He top scored
with 62 from 107 balls and claimed two for 46. |
