- GOA The Valley, Anguilla, October, Monday,
22, 2007 --- Anguillians are urged to be vigilant as the
number of cases involving illegal persons on the island are
increasing. Recently there have been a number of crimes.
While no specific set of persons have been single out or
named as the focus of these investigations the community is
being asked to report any suspicious persons and/or
activities to the necessary authorities.
On Tuesday October 17, 2007, Immigration Task Force was
informed by the Police Task Force that they had in their
custody a Jamaican national, Peter Errol Morgan, who
appeared to be residing illegally on Anguilla. Mr. Morgan
was detained for further interrogation by the Immigration
Task Force. Subsequently, Mr. Morgan admitted that he
entered the island illegally through Island Harbour and the
he was brought to Anguilla by a man by the name of “John
Fabian” who now resides in St. Maarten. He claimed that he
paid US$ 350.00 to the said person to come to Anguilla.
On Friday, October 19th, 2007 Mr. Morgan appeared before the
Magistrate Court and was charged for illegally entering the
island contrary to section 13 (2) of the Immigration and
Passport Act. The Magistrate issued an Order of Removal of
Prohibited Immigrant to Mr. Morgan. He was deported on
Saturday 20th, October 2007.
In other related news, on Saturday 20th October 2007, Mr
Omari Tota a national of St. Kitts was also deported from
Anguilla and deemed a Prohibited Immigrant. On 23rd January
2007. Mr Tota was convicted in the Magistrate’s Court of
possession of a controlled drug. He was sentenced to 12
months of which he served 10 months. He was served released
on 20th October 2007 and served an Expulsion Order.
