Digicel
Supports Local Charities this Christmas- Mobile Giant gives
big again to the Senior Citizen’s Home and AIDS Awareness |
THE VALLEY - ANGUILLA (November 16th, 2007) Digicel
this morning unveiled its plans for Christmas 2007 at their
Store located in The Valley. Key among the announcements
made by Country Manager – Stephenie Brooks is Digicel’s
continued support of their adopted charity in Anguilla, the
Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizen’s Home and commitment to assist
local NGOs in their fight against AIDS and to raise overall
awareness.
Brooks commented that, “both these entities provide an
invaluable service to the community with very little
support, yet they carry on and make life easier for the less
fortunate among us. These deeds have not gone un-noticed and
Digicel would like to reward the people who do such noble
work in these organizations this Christmas.” |

In outlining what her Company will be doing to support the
entities, Brooks continued, “we would like to make this a
truly special time of the year in which every Anguillian
with a Digicel phone can participate. So from December 1 –
31, we will launch a special charity text to win promotion.
Within this promotion, for every text message a member of
the public makes to the charity at 50c per text, Digicel
will make an equivalent donation (e.g. if a customer sends
one text at 50c, Digicel will pay to double the donation so
that the charity gets $1).”
The Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens home is geared at caring
for the older population who need supervised care. The NGOs
which support education and awareness of HIV and AIDS
provide counseling, case management and referral services to
persons living with or at risk for HIV and AIDS.
The mobile company also announced details of their Special
Christmas promotion this morning. This year there are two
parts to the offer:
o Top Up promotion - customers who top up their prepaid
phones by $25 or more & postpaid customers who zero their
balance, will have a chance to win thousands of instant
prizes (e.g. MP4 players, Radio Back Packs, Radio Boom
Boxes). They will also get entry into a grand prize draw in
January to win a Dream Living Room comprising of; 42” Plasma
Television, Stereo Surround System, Xbox 360 System and a
Sofa Set.
o Handset promotion – customers who purchase from today
November 16 to December 31, 2007 will receive $60 free
credit with every handset purchase. This credit will be
distributed as follows:
o $35 credit will be given immediately on purchase
o The balance credited to the customer’s account during the
two subsequent months.
“This promotion is by far our best campaign for the year
particularly as it relates to providing $60 free credit with
every handset purchased from Digicel this Christmas. For
Digicel its about giving back more to the customers who have
supported us all year and so, we invite you to visit the
Digicel Stores in Anguilla for more information,” commented
Ms. Brooks. |
