(Department of Physical Planning,
Gov. Anguilla)
- Spatial Innovision Limited, a Jamaican
Geographic Information System (GIS) company with
over 10 years experience in bringing Environmental
System Resource Institute (ESRI) and other
geo-spatial solutions to the Caribbean market,
recently acquired full distribution rights for ESRI
GIS software in the Caribbean and will now be
servicing the following territories, namely:
Barbados, Turks & Caicos, Dominica, British Virgin
Islands, Montserrat, Anguilla, Antigua, Saint Kitts
& Nevis, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines and Saint
Lucia in addition to existing clients in Trinidad &
Tobago, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti and Guyana.
Each year, GIS is celebrated
internationally on the Wednesday of GIS week which
is the third week in November. To continue this
tradition and bring markets that were not previously
served under their umbrella, Spatial has decided to
visit each country during the International GIS week
– November 17-21. The training seminar, the result
of collaboration between Spatial and the Department
of Physical Planning, will be conducted by an ESRI
certified trainer to a select group in the
conference room of the Department of Physical
Planning in Anguilla on Tuesday and Wednesday,
November 18 and 19, 2008. Spatial’s representative
met with members of relevant Government Agencies on
Monday, November 17.
The ESRI 2 day course will cover
ArcGIS Desktop I: Getting Started with GIS (version
9.3), for these 15 persons. Training material, an
ESRI Certificate to each participant as well as
evaluation copies of the software will also be
provided FREE OF COST.
Both the Land and Surveys and
Physical Planning Departments are upgrading its GIS
and Land Information System (LIS) products so as to
better serve the public of Anguilla using modern
technology in the area of land management. In this
regard the training provided by Spatial Innovision
Limited will be extremely critical to the success of
the Departments in these initiatives moving
forward.
